28 Weeks!

Holy 28 weeks.  Again, saying "January" just seems so far away to me at this point...so does "3 months." But when I say "12 weeks".... *GASP*  It is coming so soon, and I know with the holidays, its just going to fly!
A week into the 3rd trimester, and I'm still feeling really good...besides the occasional nausea here and there, but at this point, is not any surprise.  I do feel like my stomach has exploded in the last 2 weeks, and am "eager" to see what happens in the next 12.  The baby has also become very strong with its kicking and acrobatics.  I wonder what kind of an athlete we've got in there.
Today, at 28 weeks, the bambino has reached another  "V-day"...should he/she be born at this point in time it would have between a 90-96% chance of survival (with medical intervention)!  These odds are especially promising, however, I prefer that the bambino wait to he/she is good and ready to join the world!
I think Donny is now in the nesting stage.  He's up to lots of projects in the house.  I don't mind :)

How Many Weeks: 28 --84 days to go!

How Big Is The Baby This Week: This is the last week Baby Burch is about the size of an eggplant. He/She is about 15in long, and 2.5lbs.  Next week we're on to a new fruit!

Weight gain: 14-15lbs I'd say

Sleep? Ehh..still varying a lot.  Feeling more and more ready for afternoon naps, though I still try to skip them so I can sleep well at night.

Cravings? Still nothing, and for the most part, do not feel any more hungry than I do anytime.

Aches and pains? I had a good week!  Feeling great I'd say.

Signs of labor? Nope!

What I miss? I miss not being able to do things without someone thinking I can't handle it because I'm pregnant.  It's very thoughtful....but come on people.

Reaching Milestones: As you saw in the previous post, we got our first shower gift - which we love.  As well as the nursery is coming together with the painting finishing up and our beautiful crib.  I also was surprised with a baby shower today while in Albany for a work training!  Pictures to follow...

Blessed Baby Happenings

What a great week and weekend for exciting baby happenings.  Thursday I was sitting on the couch doing some work, when there is a "ding" at the door.  Unfortunately that usually means office supplies for Donny's work.  Well to my absolute surprise and excitement, we received our first baby shower gift from my fabulous roommates at 70 Day; Chelsea, Kelly, and Mary!

We've loved this swing since we registered for it..and can't wait to put the bambino in it!

We (Don) also finished up the painting and chairrail installation in the nursery.  So I was super anxious to get the crib, that I knew my mom, mother-in-law, and Donny's aunts Bobbi and Terry, had bought for us.  So to top off this extra exciting week, I found out the crib had been delivered.  So today, Angela, my mom, and Donny's mom came up to set up the crib

How Adorable -- I LOVE IT!!

27 Weeks

Welcome to 7 months pregnant and the 3rd trimester!

Finally an OB appointment to report.  The baby is measuring perfectly and heart rate was about 150, which is where it has consistently been.  The Dr said "up in the girl heart rate range" according the the old wives tale.  So if you're a sucker for those things (which I think I'm succumbing to believing) then perhaps we've got a little lady in there.  I also had my 1-hour glucose tolerance test today which I passed, and I'm also not anemic!  All great news.
Over the past few weeks, I can not get over how active this baby is.  Last night for probably 45 minutes I felt like there was a party going on in there...and we weren't invited.  This is all in good fun until 11:00 rolls around and the bump jumping is still going on.

How Many Weeks: 27!  That means 13 to go.  I said 13 weeks to Donny the other day, and got quite nervous.  "13 weeks"  seems soooo much sooner than when you say January!  It seems like yesterday we were nervously going to our first sonogram at 6 weeks!

How Big Is The Baby This Week: I'm still growing an Eggplant in my belly this week.  Baby is likely approaching 15 inches this week, and weighing in at over 2 lbs.  How on earth is there room for that??

Weight gain: According to the Dr's scale we are up to 13lbs.

Sleep? The past few days, I feel more and more tired, like I need to nap or I'll never make it through the work day.  Still a lot of tossing and turning at night, but getting a good nights sleep I'd say.

Cravings? I guess I'm just not going to get these.  I'm still eating pretty normal for me, but have had a couple of days of pure hunger!

Aches and pains? The morning sickness is an everyday occurrence now, usually at night.  Again, does this mean girl??  So now the nausea and the added belly parties, make for a party pooper from me!

Signs of labor? Non

What I miss? I'm not feeling like I'm missing out on anything this week.  I'm still having issues with maternity clothes.  So I guess I miss having a wardrobe of more than 5 items.

Reaching Milestones: Hello 3rd trimester.  3 months to go!  HOLY COW time is flying.

I really feel like I'm popping out!

Baby's Nursery

Here is the BEFORE picture of the nursery.  Don put in the floors about a year ago, and we painted it in anticipation of a baby, but I never could come to terms with the "limey" green.
So we decided to switch things up as you can see!  A "Light Sage" on the bottom.

I decided to get involved with the "Classic Khaki" on top.  The paint turned out GREAT...stay tuned for the chair rail!!

26 Weeks

Happy Birthday to a soon-to-be Grandma Burch!!  We love you!

Did you take a look at the countdown up top of the page??  We're down to double digits to the arrival of baby!  Whoo hoo!! Unfortunately, I feel like this past week crawled.  This was most likely because I had to work at the hospital this past weekend, which makes the weeks blend into one. long. week.

We did meet up with our newlywed friends, Chelsea and Jason, for dinner on Sunday night.  Chelsea was one of my roommates at Fredonia, and since they live in Maine, we were hopeful she could feel the bambino, since we're not sure when we'll see them next!  The baby was active all day while I worked at the hospital..and the car ride to meet them.  So of course, luck would have it, "Tullys Good Times restaurant" was so "good," it put the babe to sleep.  So with a little verbal coaxing and belly shaking (in a totally, non violent way) we got a few good movements that she could feel.

How Many Weeks: 26

How Big Is The Baby This Week: Again, we've got a baby about the size of an eggplant. He/She is about 14+ inches long and approaching 2lbs.

Weight gain: I think I've finally reached 10lbs.

Sleep? I've been waking up a lot at night, but able to fall right back to sleep.  I also notice this week my appendages have been falling asleep.  I hate that feeling...especially half asleep.

Cravings? Nothing too exciting this week.  I did enjoy 1 1/2 Subway cookies tonight though.  Aren't those the best cookies?

Aches and pains? I've been having that tight belly pain right behind my belly button again.  Now I realize when pregnant women are always rubbing their bellies.  And the past 2 days I've had some day time morning sickness again.  booooo!

Signs of labor? How many different ways can I say "No" do you think?  Lets start now...  Negative!

What I miss? I wish I could go on a walk with the dogs and Don without feeling like I'm going at a snails pace by the end of it!

Reaching Milestones: At a work function on Friday, I finally had a handful of people realize I was pregnant.  I also enjoyed sharing the bump-jumping with friends, not to mention an avid blog reader ;)

Now that's a bump!!

Platelets Shmalets

Just a quick update on my Hematologist appointment. Good news -- platelets were again normal! Bad news -- first experience with a stranger touching my belly!
But I'm relieved my platelets were again normal. I do have to continue going back monthly just to make sure the platelets stay up, but I anticipate no problems at future appointments. Whoo hoo!

And as far as this stranger who can't keep her sticky fingers to herself.... She really wasn't a total stranger that just approached me with her hands outreached, ready to hug the bump. It was my nurse at the Dr's. She said she was my size when she was 2 days pregnant, so I stood up to assure her there was baby bumpage. Apparently that was the invitation to press on my belly.

25 Weeks

25 down, 15 to go!

Another easy week has past, so I don't have much to report. I don't have another OB appointment until later this month, which will include my glucose tolerance test. Ugh! I do have a repeat appointment with the Hematologist tomorrow, so I'm hoping my platelets are again normal...stay tuned.
This past weekend we went to 2 movies, and this baby LOVES the movies...just like his/her Daddy! Baby B moves around so much during the movies, it is crazy. In fact, looking back, I'm pretty sure the first time I really felt the baby was at the movies.
Speaking of active..Baby B is still movin' and a shakin'. 2 nights ago we watched my belly bounce, and couldn't stop laughing about it. This was the first time Donny could actually see the movements. It is the weirdest feeling from the inside and so hard to explain. In fact as I type this blog, I'm sprawled out with the computer down on my legs. With a clear view of the bump, there is some active "bump-jumping" going on.

How Many Weeks: 25

How Big Is The Baby This Week: Baby Burch is about the size of an eggplant. He/She is likely 13-14 inches long and just over 1.5 pounds.

Weight gain: According to my home scale I'm gonna guess I reached the 9-10 pound mark.

Sleep? Back to sleeping pretty well as long as I don't nap during the day. No annoying bathroom trips to report either.

Cravings? I don't think I'm really experiencing cravings...its more things that sound good to me at a particular time. Then once I get a taste, I'm satisfied. I moved on to a new breakfast favorite. POPTARTS! Cherry ones to be exact - which take me back to my childhood. Now that I'm thinking back over the past few weeks, I think it is safe to say I crave...breakfast!

Aches and pains? This was a good week, feeling good and energized!

Signs of labor? None to report...lets keep it that way Bambino!

What I miss? If I could just find pregnancy clothes that looked descent I'd be a happy camper.

Reaching Milestones: I think seeing and feeling the movements have really started to make this "real." I love that Donny can now consistently feel the baby, and now see what a mover we've got in there!

I'm just not so sure these pictures are doing the bump justice!
