4th of July Festivus

Another back blog...
We celebrated July 4th weekend with family, baseball, and friends.  My Aunt Jeanne, Uncle Cliff, and cousin Jennifer came to visit from New Hampshire....

It was a very toasty day, but we watch Donny's baseball game with more family and friends .....

On the 4th we spent the day visiting with Crystal and her family and friends.  We hope to see more of her sooner than later ;)

1/2 Year Old

Excuse my while I post this blog through tear-filled eyes....okay not really, but I'd be lying if I said, I've never shed a happy, sweld with love tear, that just came leaking out because of the overwhelming love I have for our perfect little Mackenzie Leigh.  My 6 month old is fast asleep in her crib, and I miss her already.  It's been an hour, but I miss her.  I miss kissing those cheeks, and squeezing her tight.

I love that everyone says Kenzie looks like her dad, which is usually followed by a compliment about her eyes -- she's a perfect mix of Donny and I.
I love that when she sleeps, she puts her arms behind her head.
I love listening to her blabbing away after waking up in the morning and after naps.
I love that she makes perfect strangers smile.
I love that she puts her hand in her mouth when she's nervous or upset.
I love her reaction when Fausto and Grady come into the room.
I love this baby. I love our family. These 6 months have been the happiest 6 months of my life.
* And a special note from Donny -- when asked what he loves about Mackenzie "everything...except when she's crabby"

Kenzie's 1st Swim lesson

Back at the end of June, Kenzie was reunited with her water surroundings.  I was dying to get her in the pool, so we packed up her swimsuit, swim dipe, and towel and headed over to her Aunt Katie's YMCA.  She was very calm and relaxed despite the pool being filled with swimlessons, noodles, and beach balls.  She wasn't her usual happy self, and the go-to faces and noises weren't even cracking a smile.  But we had a fun time..and she didn't poop!

Kenzie showered with LOVE.laces

Okay, enough is enough.  Back to the blogging.  I have so much to share, and so far behind.  So we will rewind back to the end of June, when one of my oldest (not age, but years known) but bestest friends -  Leah and her husband Glenn, came to visit and meet Miss Mackenzie.  They were only here for a short but sweet time, so we packed it with fun, food, and Kenzie's cheeks.
Friday night we went to the unveiling for the Bills new uniforms.  Kenzie loved the fireworks and streamers and asked about getting a pair of Zubaz.  She's also asking about snacking on a crabcake at Baltimore's innerharbor, so we hopefully will be seeing the Lovelace's soon!

A Father's Love

So I've been a complete slacker when it comes to blogging, but it is all in good reason....I'm just one week away from finishing my Masters, and I can not wait.  It was tricky at times, especially the start of the spring semester falling oh so conveniently the week Kenzie was born.  But now days from being done, I can enjoy the summer with my family and can focus on watching my little lady keep growing.

So lets rewind a few weeks to Father' Day.  Again just like Mother's Day we choose to celebrate this silly holiday EVERYday.  But when speaking about the dads in our lives, both Donny and I are lucky enough to have very hands-on, involved, and loving Dads, that have now seamlessly turned into fantastic Grandpas.
Our day was filled with slumber parties and baseball.  We snuggled all morning, then headed to the bating cages.  And just like every Sunday night, Don finished off the day with a baseball game.

Now I knew my husband would be a fantastic and wonderful Dad.  I can't wait to look outside seeing him and Mackenzie playing softball in the backyard.  I can't wait to see her running at him, arms wide open, when he gets home from work.  But for now I'll gladly continue to love seeing her big ol' gummy smile when he comes home from work, and her mimicking him by blowing raspberries (ok she mostly spits), and I love when she hears his voice during a feeding, she looks all around for him, even if it means finishing her feeding with a sore neck.
I continue to fall in love with this amazing guy and Dad everyday!
